One inhalation for every stroke
Every fallen blow
I scramble up the steep slopes of this pit with collapsed lungs
Punctured by ribs that curled inward from lack of proper care
I breathe and stab westward
I breathe and beads of sweat trickle into streams of consciousness
Breathless photographs catch the drip off my chin
And I can picture myself turning red like stressed pronouns on French homework
As I claw through mudslides of disintegrated interest
It's an upstream, uphill battle
I scream like raindrops through windchimes
